I vote for at least 10 rounds. There are roughly 230 players available , of course not all good . Most teams have free agents , some more than others . Whatever the number is you can stop when you are at limit of players or salary. For the teams that want more than number of rounds decided they can bid on them.

I would vote for a set amount of rounds. Pick a few options and vote. Someone with lots of room will want more than others, then, someone is done, but ends up trading their picks.
Pick a number of rounds, stick to it, and trading (IMO) should not be allowed for these picks. Either YOU want the players or YOU do not.

My questions are will the teams inherit the players contracts? and is the draft order going to be by the finish of last year? will teams be able to go over the cap before a certain date? as for rounds to pick I'd say 8,

Are we all going to be able to protect a certain amount of players or we just drop who we want to make room for the players we are drafting ? We should all have the same number of picks between (5 to 8 picks)

How will these new players be merged with existing teams? Like will roster size increase on our current teams or will we be cutting our current players to make room? will teams be allowed to have free or reduced drops to accommodate these new players?
I personally don’t care, I just think this needs to be thought out and rules explained before all this happens so everyone is playing by same rules and with same knowledge

We have 27 players on our Major roster so why don't we protect(keep) 20 players & drop 7..without penalty & whoever we drop could be available for whoever is interested... On Minor roster we have 35 players so we keep 25 & drop 10 & make them available...whoever has less than 35 players can be allowed to draft until he has a full roster if he desires & has cap space.. We all could vote on the # of players we protect...

My thought would be figure out how many rounds we are doing then do the draft. Afterwards allow cuts if needed. I don’t see a reason to force teams to cut players from current team prior to the draft. That is only something you would do if we were expanding the league I feel

First year here so I am not sure how things went before. How long does a round (ie 10 picks) usually last? I'd suggest going 10-12 rounds and include pro and minor leaguers. You inherit the contract or rights to one. Once draft is done, teams have 24hrs to get back to Salary caps and roster limits by cutting players. (or go one pick, one cut as the draft progresses) Include cuts in cap space as per usual. Contract is still a contract. Teams can opt out of draft during any round but cannot join back in. Unselected players are free agents.
I don't see any reason to cut players for cap or roster space prior to the draft. Just ensure everyone is under the limits at a certain date. I don't think there should be free cuts. A big part of this league looks like roaster/salary cap management. An increase in cap could be more fitting since smaller league size means more higher ranked/salaried players for each team.
Whatever is decided, I will be good with. Like others, my preferred decision is a quick decision.
Also, what teams are being dispersed?
And most importantly, can the yahoo league be set-up? I have no idea of what some of my players need to resigned at. Also, is there a way someone can screenshot last years standings in yahoo, with the category breakdowns so I have a better idea where my team stands from last year?

I have at least 5 free agent players that I will not be resigning and couple empty spots so it does not matter to me how many rounds there are. Make a couple of polls , one for how many rounds and another for how many free drops you can have and another for whether players picked get new contracts based on ranking or keep contracts from previous owner.

Here is what I think we should do:
1) Per league rules, you can go above in season roster requirements of 27 Major League Roster players and 3 veterans in the minors. You have to be cap and roster compliant by October 1st.
2) You can have a choice of keeping an existing contract of the player you draft or redo the contract.
3) I suggest 8 rounds. All players and prospects are available. No separate drafts - they are all together in this one draft. These are for the 4 team dispersal draft.
4) I am going to give leaguewide release fee amnesty until Oct. 1st. That way, you're not penalized for making roster adjustments. No penalties for releases until Oct. 1st. If you have a bad contract, now's the time to take advantage of that.
5) Roster size - Yahoo will only give a maximum of 27 players, which is what we have now.
6) I will activate Yahoo after the dispersal draft and load each teams roster manually.
7) Trading of dispersal picks are not allowed. The reason? We have a new owner and I want to be fair to him. We have done this for years. He is brand new to our type of league.
8) Trading and free agency will open after the dispersal draft.
9) I need all this to be straightened out before loading all rounds at once. We will draft this Friday at 6 p.m. EDT. I will open the draft then.
Please post any suggestions/complaints/comments below. I am OPEN to suggestions or changes.
