The following is a list of rules for the FNFHL Entry Draft:
1) The draft will be held on the Monday after the NHL Entry Draft, which the date is still to be determined. The round 1 thread will be available of course once the draft commences. The draft will officially open once the Commish makes a post in the Round 1 thread stating so.
2) There will be a continuous running clock for all picks in the draft. That means it keeps running when you are on the clock (OTC), even running overnight. Each team will have 8 hours to make their selection. Once 8 hours has elapsed, the next team in line may make their selection. Teams after that may continue in order following the same rules. If a team has been skipped, they may make their selection at any time, but may not select a player already chosen after their original skipped turn (obviously). Also, once a team is skipped, their OTC time is cut in half for the rest of their picks (8 hours to 4 hours). If they are skipped again, their OTC time is cut in half again (4 hours to 2 hours) for the rest of the draft. If they are skipped a third time, they forfeit the rest of their picks in the draft.
3) Please try to be accurate with spelling and position of player taken. Please add which Junior team/European team/College they are from.........this adds to realism. The Commish will post all draft round results on one page for ease of finding who has been drafted. Also, the Complete Player Directory (CPD) will be updated after each round.
4) Only players selected in the actual NHL Entry Draft for 2021 are eligible for selection. An exception is a player taken in a previous NHL Entry Draft that has not yet played in the NHL or is signed by an NHL team (minors or development team) and is not owned by another FNFHL team. This player MUST have all information posted when drafted such as which year NHL draft and what round NHL draft he was chosen as well as the normal information from rule number 3 above as applicable. This will make verification easier. Use a source such as NHL.com as a guide to see who was selected in the NHL entry draft(s). The NHL Entry Draft is 7 rounds long with 32 teams, while ours is 5 rounds long and with 14 teams. The NHL also has compensatory picks for free agent signings which we do not have.
5) Please leave a list of players you want in order with Glenn if you will not be available or another GM who could make the selection for you. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS IS ACCURATE ON YOUR TEAM PAGE as that is how you will be notified of your turn to draft. You will be contacted by e-mail only - no twitter, texts, or phone calls from the Commish. You can send the Commish a personal message (PM) here with your list, but will only be contacted when you are on the clock (OTC) by e-mail. Glenn will officially open the draft, so no picks are to be made until then.
6) Please be considerate of your fellow owners when it comes to making them wait or if you are not available and without a list. This type of behavior is frowned upon as we all want to get this done asap and we all have plenty of time to figure out who to draft when we are up next.
7) For those who may not be familiar with some player(s), please go to hockeysfuture.com and use that source as a reference guide. I suggest you become familiar with it between now and the draft. It is quite helpful.
8) I suggest that everyone go to chat or send PMs back and forth during the draft to discuss any draft pick trading. You should try to be in chat or online if using PMs even if you are not intending to trade as someone may be actively trying to move up for a player and give you a good deal in doing so.
9) Draft picks for 2023 will be opened to trading starting with this draft only and not before. PLEASE KEEP RECORD OF YOUR PICKS on your team page.
10) The Commish will have the final verdict on any disputes. There should not be any as there are no gray areas in the rules.
